Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with Dua Lipa. I just did a bass remix of Don't Start Now. I like the way she digs in.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I like my remixes. They demonstrate both my playing ability & my writing skills.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Recording a bass track for a sync musician.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I am an analog romantic but I currently work in digital like most produces today.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You'll love it!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Doing what I love to do - compose and play music.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I am here to serve your production goals. Email me. It's quite easy to get this done.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1) iPad, 2)Epiphone Emperor, 3)Fender Jazz bass, 4)drums, 5)mic
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Been playing all my life but focusing on the bass at the moment.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Jazz loose and Funk tight.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: You can do a lot in a DAW. There is no need to be a perfectionist in production but it helps.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop music from the 1960s to the present. I am currently writing for current stuff mostly.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Coming up with bass parts.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My own vibe. I connect with the vocals, the lyrics, and the drums to really get in the groove of the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I will analyze the sheet music, write a bass part, record, edit, and mix it in one day.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My bass collection includes a Fender Jazz, a Rickenbacker, & a Hofner violin bass. I record through Zoom L-8 into Garageband on ipad. I edit & mix in Studio One. I use a DI box, amp sims, plugins, and pedals. I notate in Musescore for written parts. I have a bunch of midi software to create midi files as well.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mixing engineers are my inspiration. I learn so much just watching them work.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I write bass parts and record them for delivery via online clouds.
